stash love reprise

We haven't done a stash love post in a long....loooong time. This little stash beauty has been hanging around waiting for the perfect pattern. I can't tell you how many times I've pulled it out, pet it, and put it back. I was patient. But, now...

...I think I found the pattern.

First the yarn: it's from Impulse of Delight in the 'Transformed' colorway. It's an 80% merino 20% nylon blend. Boy is it ever soft and wonderful to handle. As in really, really wonderful!!

I remember reading a piece Ruth wrote on color quite a long while ago, she had a very cool approach to creating a color palette from a favorite photograph.

The pattern is a test knit for Anne. She is knitting her Rare Gem yarn in this pattern; you can see her sock if you scroll to the bottom here!! Anne's bright pink yarn is sooo yummy!

Anyway...that's all I know for now.

I hope you all are enjoying a good start to your week. Winter seems to have returned, but other than that...we're all good here at Chez NK!

C and C photo assignment: the egg

Remember the photo assignments I did a few months ago? Well, they're baaaack!! Happy Dance! Yep, Camilla and Carolyn have joined forces as C and C Photography, and have developed new assignments to help us hone our photo skills over the next few weeks.

The first assignment: the egg.

Briefly, we were to take an egg, photograph it on black and on white, then continue to take images as we wished.

I love eggs. You know I love eggs. I bake just to photograph eggs. I was eggstatic over this assignment. You can click on any of the images below to enlarge them and get a better view if you desire.

I did have one little accident...thank goodness I thought to use hardboiled eggs!

In my still life class, we've been discussing collages. I wanted to try placing the eggs on a page and make a still life collage. I was playing with the light a little to give the image a dynamic quality...I like the bottom panel with the shadows better, what do you think?

I think the light from the setting sun enhanced the images below.

I hope you enjoyed my egg pics! Please check out C and C photography, and see what the other folks did with their eggs! I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Have a great rest of your weekend! xo

what do you do for lunch?

I take pictures of my knitting.

Not particularly nutritious,

(although it is high in fiber!)

but you gotta make hay while the sun shines!

On the AI front, America got it right...we said good-bye to Paige last night. Next up: Tim or Katie.

Happy Friday-eve!

FO ahead

I imagine by the time I'm finished presenting my current queue of FOs (one to go), I'll have another line-up of socks to photo through! It's all good!

These are the Cotty socks designed by IrishgirlieKnits

I love this pattern! Love, love, love it!!

The yarn is STR-lightweight in 'Sassafras'

Look at those perfect stripes!! I heart this color!!

I was under the weather this weekend, which is a total bummer as it was a pretty nice weekend here in the Pacific NW. We did get a little hike in before things went downhill though!

Thank goodness for Glee from Netflix and Law and Order: CI marathons on TV!!

All is well now, and I'm ready, ready, ready for American Idol tonight!! If you didn't vote last week, tonight's the night to start!

One more picot picture...you know me...I can't leave you with just one picot image!! :)

Happy Tuesday!

emerging

Who knew that wordless wednesday could last for 3 days! :)

So it goes sometimes.

Today is the first day of Spring! Joy!! Happy dance!!

Mr. NK and I can start our nightly walks along the logging road to watch and listen to the Spring

as it moves into summer...

and slips into fall...I can't wait to see what might be in store for us this year!

And all this light! Isn't it just glorious!

I hope you all have a Spring-filled weekend!!

stitches in bloom

We had a busy weekend. Some knitting, lots of photography, a trip to the Rebuilding Center to look for cool stuff, out to brunch...it's amazing all that one can accomplish when they have a weekend off from work!

Look who came out of hiding? Lohengrin! It's about time she got back into the queue!

The Paul Atwell sock is coming along nicely...This sock is in Dashing Dachs 'Speckled Wildflowers'. I purchased the yarn from Woolgirl, but I'm not sure who else might carry it.

Hmmm...it looks like there is a new sock in the bunch!

What's a girl to do when she's been test knitting and hasn't made significant progress on existing projects for knitterly blog entries?

Yep...Quickly cast on a new sock to create variety! This one is Keukenhof by Anne Hanson in Miss Babs' 'Dahlia'.

Did you all remember to spring forward this weekend?

Wasn't that extra hour of light glorious on Sunday?! I'm loving it!

homework

My Still Life photography class was last night. The assignment was 'Singles and Multiples'. We were supposed to capture an image of a single item and multiples of said item. There are some very creative and talented photogs in the class...very inspiring, indeed. I need to work on stepping further outside my comfort zone and push the envelope a little bit. Anyway, the flower above is the "single".

This little bouquet is the "multiple".

I've been enjoying playing in b&w lately, especially with images of people, so I thought I would pop this image into black and white for fun. Note to self: An almost all white image becomes very high key in b&w.

Speaking of multiples...check out these beauties--a nice balance to the white!

Happy Friday-eve!!
